About Me

I’m John Saxby, a security officer and technologist based in Australia. I enjoy building systems that make security work more reliable, traceable, and easier for officers on the ground.

Outside of shift work and development, I’m interested in the paranormal and my family tree.

What I Work On

• Android and cross-platform mobile apps for security operations.
• Self-hosted infrastructure, including mail servers and web services.
• Tools that help record, export, and analyse security events and timesheets.

Why the Shark?

I chose the shark because it carries deep cultural and personal significance. The shark is a symbol of the Biripi people from Taree — the community and Country I’m connected to through my DNA and family ancestry.

For me, the shark represents strength, awareness, and respect for the world around us. It moves with purpose and never stops — much like the way I approach my work, my culture, and my curiosity about what lies beyond the surface.
